SORORITY HISTORY

On January 13, 1913, 22 women on the campus of Howard University decided to organize a dynamic service organization to address the major societal concerns of their time.
These women worked tirelessly to de-emphasize the social aspect of sorority life and focus on the vital concern of the African American community, the expectation of academic excellence, and the advancement of human welfare. The principles of scholarship, service and sisterhood have withstood all tests of time.
Thus, allowing over 250,000 women and over 900 chapters world-wide to devote all of their love, peace, and happiness to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated
