The chapter’s year-long initiative for the 2024-2025 academic year is REDefining Maternal Care through which the Iota Rho chapter will be partnering with Care Ring, a non-profit organization in Charlotte-Mecklenburg County dedicated to providing health services for the “uninsured, underinsured or those lacking access to affordable, high-quality preventive health care”. Through partnering with Care Ring, our chapter seeks to spread awareness in regard to the healthcare discrepancies that lead to a disproportionate maternal mortality rate for Black women.

 

Throughout the year, the Iota Rho chapter will collect monetary donations for Care Ring. The money raised will be used to support the “A Guided Journey Program” which provides support for new and expecting parents. In addition to monetary donations, the chapter will be volunteering with Care Ring twice a month.
